Endorsements and results for September 17, 2013 special primary elections

California State Legislature

As are all primary elections for state legislative offices under current law, the special primary elections on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 were "top-two" open primaries, in which all candidates regardless of party are on the same ballot. Because State Senator Mitchell received a majority of the votes (at least 50% + 1) in her contest, she won outright, and no special general election was needed in SD 26.

Since Assemblymember Gonzalez received a majority of the votes (at least 50% + 1), she won outright and was sworn in.
